In-Home Daycare

Personalized, one-on-one care—right where your pet feels most at home

Every pet is unique, and for many, spending the day at home is far less stressful than being left alone or placed in a busy daycare facility. Our In-Home Daycare service is designed for pets who thrive on companionship, routine, and individualized attention—all within the comfort and familiarity of their own home.

Whether you're working a long shift, attending an all-day event, traveling, or simply want the peace of mind of knowing someone is there for your pet, we'll step in to provide dedicated care tailored to their needs. During our visit, your pet receives far more than just a potty break. We spend quality time engaging with them through play, enrichment activities, walks (if requested), meals, medication administration (when needed), and, of course, plenty of affection and companionship.

Because we care for only your household during your scheduled visit, your pet enjoys undivided attention without the stress of unfamiliar dogs, crowded daycare environments, or changes to their normal routine.

We take the time to get to know your pet's personality, preferences, and daily schedule so they can continue their day as comfortably and naturally as possible.

This service is especially beneficial for puppies, senior pets, pets recovering from surgery, those with medical needs, dogs experiencing separation anxiety, or any pet whose family simply wants them to have company throughout the day.

At Bark & Broom Pet Care, we believe the best care happens where your pet feels safest—at home. Our goal is to provide compassionate, professional care that keeps tails wagging, routines consistent, and pet parents confident that their furry family members are in caring, capable hands until they return home.

Frequently asked questions

Curious about our In-Home Companion Care service? We've answered some of the most common questions about scheduling, what to expect during your pet's visit, and how this service can benefit your furry family member. If you have additional questions, we're always happy to help!

Do you require a Meet & Greet?

Yes! We require a complimentary Meet & Greet for all new clients before booking services. This allows us to get to know you and your pet, learn about their routine, answer any questions, and ensure we're a great fit for one another.

What areas do you serve?

Our primary service area includes Bergen County and surrounding communities. We also provide services throughout select areas of Northern New Jersey, and extended travel may be available for an additional travel fee. If you're unsure whether you're within our service area, feel free to reach out!

Are you insured and CPR & First Aid certified?

Yes! Bark & Broom Pet Care is fully insured, and we are certified in Pet CPR & First Aid. With a background in emergency veterinary medicine, we're committed to providing knowledgeable, compassionate care for every pet we meet.

What types of pets do you care for?

While dogs and cats are our most common clients, we're happy to care for many types of companion animals. If you have birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, reptiles, or other small pets, let us know during your Meet & Greet so we can discuss their specific care needs.

What is in-home daycare?

In-home daycare provides one-on-one attention in your pet's own home for either a half-day or full-day visit. During our time together, we'll follow your pet's normal routine with meals, potty breaks, walks (if requested), playtime, enrichment, medication administration (if needed), and plenty of companionship.

Is this the same as doggy daycare?

Not quite! Unlike a traditional daycare facility, your pet remains in the comfort and familiarity of their own home while receiving personalized, one-on-one care. This helps reduce stress, minimizes exposure to illness, and keeps your pet on their normal routine.

Is in-home daycare right for my pet?

In-home daycare is ideal for puppies, senior pets, pets recovering from surgery, dogs with separation anxiety, pets requiring medication throughout the day, or any pet who simply enjoys having company while you're away.

Terms & Conditions

Cancellation Policy

To help maintain a reliable and efficient schedule for all of our clients, we kindly ask that any cancellations or reschedule requests be made at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled service.

If a cancellation is made with less than 24 hours’ notice, the next scheduled visit will require payment upfront before the service is rendered. This ensures that we can continue to dedicate time and attention to every pet on our schedule.

If we arrive for a scheduled service and are unable to access your home or your pet, the visit will still be charged as scheduled.

Behavior Policy

The safety and well-being of both your pet and our team is our top priority. We reserve the right to decline or discontinue service if a dog displays aggressive behavior or is extremely difficult to handle on a lead.

This policy ensures that all pets receive safe, stress-free care and that our team can provide attentive, professional service without risk of injury. If a dog is deemed unsafe for in-home pet care, we will discuss alternative options, such as one-on-one training recommendations, when appropriate.

Please understand that this policy is in place because we are not professional trainers and are not equipped to manage severe behavioral issues safely. This ensures that all pets receive stress-free, attentive care and that our team can provide services without risk of injury.

Meet & Greet Policy

At Bark & Broom Pet Care, we require a complimentary meet-and-greet for all new clients before services begin. This visit allows us to get to know you and your pet, review your pet’s routine, discuss any medical needs or behavioral considerations, and ensure that everyone feels comfortable moving forward.

Meet-and-greets typically last about 20–30 minutes and take place in your home so we can see where supplies such as leashes, food, medications, and other essentials are kept. This also gives your pet a chance to become familiar with us in their own environment and also gives us a chance to assess how your pup does on walks with someone other than their parent.

While meet-and-greets are complimentary, they are an important step in providing safe and reliable care. For this reason, we ask that clients are prepared to discuss their pet’s routine and expectations for the requested services. Services may not be confirmed until the meet-and-greet has been completed and approved.

If additional meet-and-greets are requested after the initial visit, they may be subject to a small service fee.

Vaccination Requirement Policy

For the health and safety of all pets, clients, and staff, Bark & Broom Pet Care requires that all pets receiving services be current on their veterinarian-recommended core vaccinations appropriate for their species, age, and lifestyle. Dogs should, at a minimum, be current on rabies, distemper/parvovirus (DHPP), and any vaccinations required by state or local law. Cats should be current on rabies and FVRCP, as recommended by their veterinarian.

Clients agree to provide accurate vaccination information upon request and to notify Bark & Broom Pet Care if their pet's vaccination status changes. We reserve the right to decline, suspend, or discontinue services for any pet that does not meet our vaccination requirements or whose vaccination status cannot be verified.

Exceptions may be considered for pets with a documented medical exemption provided by a licensed veterinarian. Such exceptions are evaluated on a case-by-case basis and may be subject to additional safety requirements or service limitations.

Client Responsibility

Clients are responsible for providing safe and reliable access to the home (key, lockbox, or entry instructions). We are not responsible for malfunctions to any lock or electronic alarm system.

Clients are responsible for ensuring that their pets are safe to handle and that all known behavioral concerns, medical conditions, or bite history have been disclosed prior to the start of services.

All pet items, including leashes, harnesses, or other equipment, must be laid out to be ready for use.

The client accepts financial responsibility for any injury, damage, loss, or expense caused by their pet to Bark & Broom Pet Care, its staff, third parties, or property during the course of services. This includes, but is not limited to, damage to personal property, veterinary expenses resulting from the client's pet, and medical expenses arising from injuries caused by the client's pet.

The client agrees to maintain a safe environment by securing hazardous conditions, informing Bark & Broom Pet Care of any circumstances that may affect the safety or well-being of the pet or caregiver.

Clients must inform us in advance if any other individuals (family members, friends, maintenance workers, etc.) will be entering the home. For safety, privacy, and liability reasons, no unannounced entry is permitted while services are being provided. Failure to communicate this may result in immediate discontinuation of services.

Force Majeure

The safety of our clients, their pets, and our team is always our highest priority. While we make every reasonable effort to provide scheduled services, Bark & Broom Pet Care cannot guarantee service when circumstances beyond our control make travel or care unsafe or impossible.

This includes, but is not limited to, severe weather, flooding, hurricanes, tornadoes, snowstorms, ice, natural disasters, widespread power outages, road closures, government-declared emergencies, or other unforeseen events ("Acts of God").

If a scheduled service must be delayed, modified, or canceled due to these circumstances, we will notify you as soon as possible and work with you to determine the safest and most appropriate course of action. Bark & Broom Pet Care shall not be held liable for delays, interruptions, or the inability to perform services resulting from circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
