Luis
Co-founder & Surgical Veterinary Technician
Luis is a practicing surgical veterinary technician with extensive experience in general practice and specialty veterinary care. Throughout his career, he has worked closely with animals requiring advanced medical attention, including specializing in dermatology and helping pets with severe allergies and chronic skin conditions. His clinical background brings an added layer of medical knowledge and support to the Bark & Broom team. If you're interested in veterinary nurse support at home or you're inquiring about wedding services and transport, Luis will be a dedicated part of your team!
Lucia
Founder & Retired Veterinary Technician
Lucia is the founder of Bark & Broom Pet Care Services and a retired veterinary technician with five years of experience in both general practice and emergency medicine. She has worked in veterinary clinics across New York City and New Jersey and is trained in CPR, first aid, and Fear Free handling techniques. After seeing how difficult it could be for pet parents to find reliable and compassionate care outside the clinic, Lucia retired to create Bark & Broom and help provide professional, in-home pet care that prioritizes safety, comfort, and peace of mind for both pets and their families. Lucia handles the day-to-day operations, including dog walking, pet sitting, overnight care, and more. She will be your primary caretaker and point of contact!
Duchess
Chief Morale Officer
Duchess is the heart of Bark & Broom and our beloved four-legged team member. Since she was just three months old, she has grown up alongside us in veterinary clinics, making her incredibly well-socialized and comfortable around animals of all kinds. Duchess has a calm, friendly personality and loves making new friends, especially dogs who prefer a gentle one-on-one companion rather than a large group. She’s our resident therapy dog and a wonderful playmate for visiting pups.

This inspired us to create Bark & Broom, a business dedicated to bridging that gap and ensuring that every pet parent can access the care their furbabies require. I don't even know where to begin with this review, but I can truly say that Lucia has been a blessing to our family. She came into our lives at the perfect time--right when I had to transition from working remotely back into the office. I have a seven-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (Lady), who loves everyone, and a two-year-old micro bully (Chino), who is very selective with people.
From the start, Lucia showed such kindness, patience, and care with both of them. And I can't forget her husband, Luis--he's like the new dog whisperer! Chino has never taken to anyone outside of his dad, but somehow Luis became his new favorite person (his dad now jokes that Chino is a "traitor").
Lucia and Luis are truly amazing. They go above and beyond in every way, giving not just their time but their heart and effort to the dogs they care for. If you're looking for someone who will treat your pets with love and attention as if they were their own, Lucia is absolutely the one to call. She is your go-to person, and I can't recommend them enough!
